Ruby vs Tawny
October 13th, 2008 by Jeff
Featured in today’s show:
- Quinta do Noval Fine Ruby Port from Portugal
- Quinta do Noval Tawny Port…also from Portugal (go figure)
Recommended food pairings:
- Pair the Ruby with any decent, blue-veined cheese (like stilton)
- For the Tawny, go for either creme brulee or pecan pie

Dark European chocolate plus Ruby Port equals BLISS (may be my final bliss when the time comes).

Great episode! If you are ever in California, head out to Madera and check out Ficklin or up in the Napa Valley check out Prager Port Works – both are fine makers of Port styled wines. BUT! Don’t go to Madera in the middle of summer as it gets up to 115 degrees during the day and only cools off to around 95 degrees at night. I visited there last May and wrote a review, posted pictures and a video.
