REVIEW: La Sauvageonne “Les Ruffes” 2007 Côteaux du Languedoc
May 6th, 2009 by Jeff
Blend:
- Syrah
- Grenache
- Carignan
- Cinsault
- All unfined and unfiltered
Color:
Very bright ruby with a purple rim.
Nose:
Spice blackberry and vanilla.
Palate:
Dry, fairly tannic and very youthful. Decent acidity but just barely. Pretty chewy fruits of blackberry, plum skin, raisins and herbs. A touch of heat on the finish. I was a big fan of the 2006 but I think the ’07 could use some laying down time to let those big fruit notes integrate with the tannin and oak. It’s a little clumsy right now. I will look forward to it in another year.
The Som Rating: 7/10 Scarlett Johansson Heads

Glad to see you enjoyed this wine. I’ll be trying to visit the vineyard pretty soon for my wine blog centered around the Languedoc.
I actually wanted to email you about my blog, but I can’t find an email button!
I’m making an aggregator that highlights whenever somebody I like talks about the Languedoc, but it’s very hard to index video reviews. If you just email me any time you review a wine from the Languedoc, I will link to the video from my Languedoc News feed.
Keep up the good work, guys. You’re insane in a good way.

Ryan – Thanks for the comments
We’ll let you know when we cover a wine from the Languedoc. You should sign up for our RSS so at least you know when we put out something new…you might catch it before we send you a note.
We have a section on how to contact us (Questions & Subscribing), but plan to improve the overall ease of the site in 2010. Already have a new test site running and hope to deliver in January.
Also checked out your site. Seems like WordPress continues to be the go-to tool for wine bloggers. Like your episodes. Jealous that you’ve been able to travel to France to taste wine! We’re planning some trips in the coming year. Hopefully they pan out.
Take care and good luck with your blog as well!
