Holy cherry & spice, Batman! Don’t be too distracted by the name and label, the wine is pretty good…if you like big Cabs. This thing is freakin’ brutish and is so packed with big dark cherry, spice, vanilla, and tannin that drinking it without food may be a little overwhelming. It’s blended with just a smidgen of Petit Sirah, then aged just under 2 years in oak so you get that smokiness on the nose and palate.
If you favor lighter wines, this thing will kick your ass, so be warned.
For food pairing, two things come to mind: a big, greasy steak, or anything with barbecue sauce on it. I’m tellin’ ya…you drink this thing solo, it could fry your circuits.
My only criticism is that it’s personality is so big that it kind of comes across like a loud college student. But for 18 bucks, I guess I wasn’t expecting character and refinement. What you get is the epitome of a Cali Cab, and it’s worth a try.
